Living Social - Beginners Stock Trading Course

I signed up for this after paying £15 through the living social deal site.

The online description read

"This 90-minute classroom seminar has been made to guide you through the basics of the Forex market and trading , from stocks and shares to trading preparation and psychology. Redeem the Books and Education deal coupon and receive an email with the voucher code. - Learning from a amiable and experienced trader, the course is perfect if you'with reference to thinking with reference to a career in stock trading or are simply looking to bolster your CV. "

I turned up to a grotty meeting room in what was obviously a virtual office type set up.

There were two men who after telling us not to ask any questions during the presentation, spent half an hour telling us how rich they had become through currency trading then another fifteen minutes telling us what we could learn if we went on a 2 day course with their training company. At this point I pointed out that we hand' actually learned anything and all they had seemed to do was promote their other courses, which I didn't have any intention of going on.

They became defensive and I gave them another 5 minutes, after which they announced that the normal price of their course was £1995 but as a special one night only price we could have it for only £999! :rotfl: at this point I gathered my possessions and left.

I emailed Living Social the next day and asked for my money back as I felt this "course" was mis sold, and it was no better than a time share presentation scam. Not to mention the money I had paid for fuel / parking, and that I had wasted an evening.

They have emailed back to say they will refund me in "deal pounds", ie, a credit note. I explained this I not acceptable and want a refund but they are not budging.

Can anyone offer any advice or info on my rights here?

Misrepresentatio nAct 1967 should see you have a valid reason to get a refund if product was missold. Don't think they can insist on vouchers.

Might be worth reporting to Trading Standards with name of the course company if it is a scheme to sign people up to other stuff.

How many people were there? Did they complain too?

Write a letter giving them 30 days to issue a full refund.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
