  • Evening!

Currently my mortgage is offset against a savings account only. I enquired to see if I opened a current account, can my mortgage be offset against that. The answer was YES!

I usually keep £1000 in my current account for bills. So good to know I will be paying slightly less interest !

As for my lodger. Hopefully should be in by Monday. That's £4250 tax free Yippee!

Just trying to think how I can make extra money as I have a few weddings to go to this year!

  • So I have a lodger now!Tax free money. So far so good. I just need to remember it won't be forever! Thank you for the idea guys.

Yesterday I cancelled my tv license ..... I'm not trying to cut back on everything! But I didn't actually realise you don't need a license if you watch catch up tv eg bbc iplayer. And as that's what I do to keep up to date with corrie - perfect 8)

I didn't make any big bonus from work over Christmas unfortunately so I'm really going to have to step things up. 6th gear from now . Time to get things done .

Time for a nosy on this forum for extra motivation. 2.5 years seems so far away.

  • I am about the same term to be finished, at the moment my mortgage is 3 years but I am hoping to trim that to 2 and then the big save for my next house.
Good luck with your journey :)

  • thanks norfolkdream and good luck with your plans. I did dream of being in a massive house BUT the idea of having a big mortgage would send me under ! so I just plan on clearing this one and being happy with what I have!

  • I did think about paying this off and getting another one to move quicker but I'd rather stay put and save and then I will have a better advantage of buying a house I want without having to beg the bank for a mortgage and going through all that drivle again :)

    Hi All

Its been a while and i've been slacking on here. im age 31 and for as far back as I can remember I have been saving....its so tiring ! I have decided that once I reach the 50k mark in my offset savings account im DONE with saving!!! currently im on 20k. by the end of 2015 I hopefully should be at the 50k mark

I received a letter from my mortgage adviser today and I now owe 75k (technically 55k because of my offset account) Yay!:j

the quest continues ... I just know that by the end of next year I will feel more secure knowing that I will be mortgage free. we are in this together!!!! Night
