Hello Chardonnay - will be subscribing to your diary as some of your goals are similar to mine re wine and weight! I lost the plot a bit with both over the past few weeks! Good luck!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Thanks parsniphead (great name!
) I guess I am focused. The end is in sight and knowing we could buy our own house this year has really spurred me on. I have had half hearted attempts to clear the debt before, but this time feels different.
Reading your signature, you have done amazingly well with your debts! Nearly debt free for you now! That must be an amazing feeling and you've come such a long way, very inspirational! :T:T0 -
That's great Sun Addict (love that name as well, can relate to that!) It will be great to have you along for the journey!

Strange isn't it, my New Year's Resolutions are always related to money and my weight! I have made a decision to start Weight Watchers online again this Friday, rather than next Monday. I almost feel that I physically can't carry on eating rubbish for much longer. Will be starting the exercise plan next Monday and my plan is to either run or use the exercise bike at least 3 times a week. I haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks and I'm dreading it! I reckon I've put on about half a stone!
Hope the weigh in won't be too painful for you too!0 -
Hello, hope everyone's having a good day, ready for NYE, whatever you are doing!

My NYE plans have gone out of the window I'm afraid
My man flu is no better and feeling really rough today. Just didn't feel up to driving 70 miles and going out, then driving back tomorrow in the heavy rain and high winds we're been forecast. We were going to spend time with OH's daughters and son in law and they were really disappointed when he told them we weren't coming. I could see he felt really bad and was really torn so I persuaded him to go anyway as it was all organised. I'm not the best company anyway with my cold and I honestly don't mind, as hate seeing him worrying about stuff.
Just managed to struggle out to M&S and pick up something tasty but easy for tea tonight and a bottle of Prosecco, which I know I shouldn't drink, feeling the way I do, but I know that I will
Will have a night watching my Sex and the City boxset and then Jools Holland. Could be worse!
Popped into Boots as needed some deodorant and tablets for my cold (party on!) and used my Boots points to pay for them, so no spend there! :T
So even with the money spent in M&S and the money I gave OH to go away with, we still came out of this £50 better off than we would have, and so I decided to pay that and the £10 I saved on my brother's birthday present off my Barclaycard. So feeling very virtuous
Have noticed that on the 0% balance transfer offer I received in the post yesterday that it has to be retrieved by the end of January, so it's going to be a race to pay my Barclaycard off next month so that I can transfer my Marriott card balance on to it. So off to try and find some more ways to try and throw a bit more money at it!
Happy New Year everyone! :beer:0 -
Hope you feel better soon and I totally agree with you that alcohol always makes you feel better even though you know you shouldn't be partaking when you feel rough. Enjoy your quiet night in - I'll be doing the same - so I'll raise my glass of Asda champers to you and wish you a very happy new year!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Good luck, I've subscribed and looking forward to your progress. I too have a daughter who suffers with anxiety which is part of the reason I got in to so much debt.Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

Thanks Sun Addict, Happy New Year to you too! Did you have a nice night? Quite enjoyed my quiet night in really - 2013 was a very emotional year, with losing my mum, so it was nice to have some quiet time to reflect and think about her.
Asda Champers sounds great - love Champers!
I ended up drinking nearly a whole bottle of Prosecco, but what the hell eh, it was NYE! Hope you've had a nice NYD too

Hi Skinnylatte and welcome to my diary! I love a Skinny latte too by the way, it's my little treat when I'm on a diet

Sorry to hear that your daughter suffers from anxiety too
It's so horrible seeing your child suffer emotionally isn't it, when you so desperately want to help them! I hope she's doing ok at the moment!
Happy New Year to you and I hope 2014 brings health and happiness for you and your daughter!0 -
Well today has been good and also rather rubbish on the MSE front

OH is back, which has been lovely, and he brought back £35 which he didn't spend last night (lovely fella!
) so I paid another £40 off the Barclaycard, bringing total extra payments over the last couple of days to £100
Also did half an hour's self employed work, as I had challenged myself to do, so was pleased with that.
But then the bad, bad news
I decided I would do my tax return today to get it out of the way. I did hardly any self employed work for 2012/2013 so had budgeted for a small amount of tax, but then I remembered today that I had received the PPI refund in March, and the 8% interest is taxable!! Therefore, the £50 that I had budgeted is looking pretty pathetic, compared to the £500 that I think my tax bill is going to be!
I know that I owe it fair and square, but am just gutted that I didn't think about it before!
Oh well, two steps forward, one step back, that's the way it is with debt busting I guess! I have a bottle of wine in the kitchen that I was saving for the weekend, but my first instinct was to open it and have a glass tonight to cheer myself up, even though I feel rubbish with my cold and I know it'll make me feel worse for work tomorrow. But...the good news is that I resisted, so I feel I am learning something!
Just had a lovely (budgeted for
) takeaway, so that's cheered me up a bit anyway.
Onwards and upwards!0
