Hi there
I'm hoping to get a mortgage in the next few months and was just wondering if I stand a better chance if I go through my own bank (in my case Halifax) I have banked with them for nearly 30 years for both current & ISA and they can see that always stay in credt, save regularly etc etc...

I don't think brand loyalty counts for much, if anything, with the main lenders. You either fit their criteria or you don't.0

There is no loyalty with banks when it comes to mortgages. They have criteria, you either meet it or you dont.
Halifax are rarely the top of any tables on price, is there anything your worried about that might make it difficult to get a mortgage?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Well the only real thing that is niggling is (as I've mentioned in a previous post) that I'm not sure if i was on the electoral roll in my last flat. I have been living within Glasgow CC for 7 years and always on the ER, but between July 2010-Jan 2011 I was lodging witb the home owner and I didn't notify the council of my change of address and I don't imagine my previous LL did either. There was also within the last 3 years a time between flats that I stayed with a friend in another council but didn't advise them as it was just a short term arrangements.0

Dont worry too much, do you have any bills or bank statements addressed to that property? At least you can evidence you did live there if that is the case.
If you dont, then i would speak to the lender before submitting any application.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You should be ok, as ACG says, loyalty is worthless, simply find the best package and go from there.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for your advice. I'm going to see the mortgage advisors at Halifax & Nationwide (have accounts with them both) next week looking for a long fix on 85% LTV on a £46000 flat for 15yrs. They seem to offer good rates and low/no fees, free valuation & free basic legal (in the case of the Nationwide anyway )
any thoughts on this btw?0
