Keyboard Problems . with double leters

I have a Labtec wireless mouse and keyboard, which for some reason always gives problems when the batteries are changed. It always seems to take several attempts, then a couple of reboots to the computer before the keyboard works again.
Now every time I type a double leter . only one shows
if I type t and t, everything is fine, when slow but even with my two finger typing, normal sped results in only one rather than two characters.
al leters are the same
rr gg tt hh uu dd ww OK, at about 2 clicks per second
r t h j k l al double clicks at normal typing sped
What can I do to fix this anoying habit ?
PS HAPPY 2014 TO AL READERS HERE:beer:

Did you remember to re-synchronize the keyboard with the receiver after replacing the batteries?
Can you reduce the space between the keyboard and receiver, or remove any obstacles between them? Are there any large metal or electrical objects very close to the keyboard/receiver (e.g. a metal desk, a wireless access point within a metre or two, a mobile phone with bluetooth/wifi/whatever enabled)?
Or... can you switch to a wired keyboard? Annoying, perhaps, but after the problems I had with a wireless keyboard, I gave up and went back to a tried-and-tested cabled one!0 -
there is a setting somewhere on some products to overcome key bounce, (and often speed of repetition too), so every time you type a double letter in quick succession, only one shows0
