printer broke because of faulty ink

i bought some ink from ebay for my epson c44 and after putting the ink in the printer broke - i didnt think it was the ink - so, as it was a cheap printer i just bought a c46 (kids only use printer for homework) - anyway i gave my broke printer to a friend to see if he could use it for spares - he has now told me even though i was sold a c44 ink it wasnt for a c44 printer at all - they made a mistake and sold me the wrong one.....what do i do? do i just put it down to experience and double check next time or do i complain?? i havent got the printer or the ink now.....

how was your friend able to verify that the cartridge was wrong.....?

i would email the seller and explain how you proved the wrong cartridge had been sold..... not sure whether you get any recompense for the printer not working, but certainly a refund on the cartridge is due.....

i bought a new printer and as the ink was for c44 - c46 i thought i could take the ink out of the broke printer and put in the new one which was a c46 - but, i was unable to take it out, hence my friend tried to for me....he then found out that the ink was for a c42 printer, hence it had flooded allover the insides of the printer......

yes, i am going to email her and explain - doubt ill get anywhere though with it being off ebay....

so the cartridge was sold to you as being for a c44

but it turns out to be a for a c42......

me thinks the seller is at fault .....
if you paid by paypal, make a reclaim.....
    good luck anyway......

could've been the printer 'sump' was full. We had an epson which worked fine for about 3 months then just stopped. On looking on the internet we discovered that epsons have a built in limit to the amount of printing you can do before they consider they should be serviced. There is a sponge under the printer which collects 'waste' ink (it gets added to , every time the printer charges) and once the chip thinks its full, thats it until its serviced and sponge replaced. You can get resetter progs to fool the chip in the printer into thinking it is empty again but you have to run them before the printer decides it needs the service.
This is the reason our epson (only 3 months old) went in the dustbin and we bought a lexmark!
