How to upgrade from a cash card account?

Options
Hi, i have a basic cash card account with Barclays, i would like to upgrade it to an account were i can pay for things over the phone (debit card). dont want an overdraft or anything like that but my bank keeps on refusing me.

I have a CCJ from about a year ago, ive been making the payments every month and never missed one, i get about £2400 payed into my cash card account every month, ive never been overdrawn (i went overdrawn once but the bank returned it for me due to a bank error) and ive had the bank account for about 9 months now.

when i went into the bank about 2 months ago to try to up grade, they put my details in their computer. and like Little Brittain the computer said NO.

When I went into the bank I just saw once of the personal bankers they have at the desks, my question is..... Do you think its worth trying to see my bank manager and ask him if he can overide the computer and give me a chance? will the bank manager see me in the first place?

As you can see I get a decent amount of money paid into my account each month, my account is in good order and i dont want an overdraft.....do you think they will help?

many thanks

Barclays are rubbish with their customer, I mean my personal banker is great and friendly but if you have anything little in your credit file they will not help you. I have banked with them for 9years and my wage goes to them, I also took two loan from them that never missed payment on it for 3years but if the screen said no then it is no.

yeah i agree, barclays are useless,
abbey and hsbc are very good, and can see past blips in peoples credit file

Barclays usually say keep your account in good form for 6 months then try again, i,e if you have gone overdrawn in the past 6 months then the comp will automaticaly say no,

also i thought bacalys were getting rid of the electron cards, maybe thats why it might be a bit harder as well.

That CCJ is the killer and will be on your credit files for 6 years!
No bank that conducts a credit search (ie all of them) will give you a debit card account because of that.
