Hi,

Following a bereavement this year I'm responsible for a house that is empty. It will be empty for at least an other year.

Has someone got any advice on what electricity tariff would be best suited for this house?

The house doesn't have gas.

On the CEC "Please estimate your electricity consumption level" drop down menu should I select "low"? Will this return suitable search results? (I feel like I there should be a "very low" option).

I will try to get a KWh per year number.

Thank you in advance.

If it's empty and you wont be using much if any, then Ebico is probably your best bet as they don't have a standing charge

There is no national cheapest-it depends on region and usage. So use any comp site accordingly with the estimated kWh figures.

How can EBICO survive, if it's got all these customers who don't spend any money? Does EBICO still have to pay National Grid a fixed amount for infrastructure per customer? Just wondering.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll look out for this company in my searches.

Depends on the Local Authority - mine still offers a range of discounts.
"From the 1 April 2013, a property which is unfurnished and unoccupied will receive a discount for up to 6 months"

If you are doing work on the property you may get longer. I got 12 months (discounted to 0%!!) because of renovation work I was doing.

Presumably they have people who their tariffs are not appropriate for that subsidise the others.

DUoS charges include a ppday charge that needs to be paid for all supply points.
