I've been a member of this site for 5 years now, and in all that time reading, learning, debating, and posting, less than a tenth of one percent would have been on the parts of the board devoted to traditional 'money saving' topics.
Yet this site has helped me to become tens of thousands of pounds better off.
Why?
Because saving a few quid on a Tesco shop or getting a code for 10% off a pair off shoes is often the online equivalent of missing the forest for the trees.
The information I have learned through debating (often contentious) issues on this site, and researching the bigger picture on those topics, has enabled me to understand the wider political, economic and demographic situation and make informed decisions about my personal finances that have already made or saved me tens of thousands of pounds since I joined.
Over a lifetime that will scale up to hundreds of thousands of pounds.
And yet so many of these threads, containing so many well thought out and researched points of discussion, now seem to get deleted?
It's doing the members no service whatsoever to keep deleting entire threads just because individual posters step over the line on issues like politics, or immigration, or benefits.
Why not just delete the few offensive posts instead of the entire thread?
There's nothing more frustrating than spending several hours discussing and debating a topic in depth, shaping our own opinions and researching for others, only to have the entire thread deleted thanks to a single post being deemed inappropriate.
It seriously diminishes the site-user experience for me, and I know also for many others.
I know you're busy, but a reply would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
