Help with halifax branch only children's savings account

Hi all,

My 2 children currently have Passbook Saver accounts with Halifax and the rate is abysmal! I would like to move the money to a Kids Regular Saver but the only problem is my family are currently posted to Cyprus and you can only do this in branch.

My question is: would my mum be able to go in branch with their current pass books and open a kids regular saver for them or will I have to do it when I fly back in April as I have their birth certificates and passports?

Unfortunately you will have to go into the branch with the relevant documents (children's birth certificate, current passbook only if you want to close the account) as well as parents photo ID to open a new account.

Your children might be better off with a Young Saver account instead of the regular saver: http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/branch-accounts/#kidsregularsaver

With the regular saver you're capped to a maximum deposit of £100 per month and interest is calculated on the balance every month.
