I collected something from store just before Christmas and asked for the receipt so I could prove it wasn't nicked on the way out. They told me the barcode on the side of the box proved it was paid for and that the email was the receipt. This might be a silly question but why delete the email?

    ETA
If you do need to return it I would say just contact CS and there shouldn't really be a problem as they will have all the details of the order.
  • I purchased most of the items via ebay and other sites, they always send me the receipts, i thought Tesco also will follow the same.

Did you bother to look on the Tesco direct site you ordered from?

Log on to your Tesco Direct account and make a note of the order number for the camera and take that and the camera to Tesco.
  • All of the info is shown on the Tesco website.
Your confirmation email will function as a proof of purchase for your
    order.

However if you require a paper copy of the invoice for your
records then please contact Customer Services using the details on the Contact Us page.

VAT receipts can be requested by viewing the
appropriate order on the "View Direct
orders" part of the "My Account"
section of the website. This will allow you to print a VAT receipt.

I think its daft how they now come un-packaged and with no invoice.

I recently returned a mobile wifi that would not charge - and they were adament they could not take it back in store without a proper receipt. But after three phone calls where i was put on hold and then cut-off - i would not budge.

They eventually did it. I had my email print-out and the delivery sticker was still on the box.

Tesco really are a farce at the moment. My order was originally cancelled for no reason. Then they send me faulty goods.

Your confirmation e-mail is your invoice and as someone mentioned earlier, you can get a "real" copy by contacting Tesco customer services.
Personally, I think that the less packaging the better as it just gives me less rubbish to dispose of or recycle.

And is probably a reason they now arrive damaged.

And your confirmation email can be tampered with - i could have changed the £30 to £60 if they are just going to pay up.

The woman asked ME how much she owed me - and it was SHE who said you need a proper invoice.

Typical Tesco - poorly trained trouts.
