Hi,
It's interesting to see how far some companies mark up prices.
I see that Google sell it for £299 which is, I assume, a base price. Then you go to CPW who sell it for £329 and then it seems to go up from there lol. The worst is this phone on a contract
Obviously it's an open market so they are free to sell it for what they want. It's just interesting to see how far some companies will mark up a product.
That is all.

Why is that the worst? Its FREE. Not really free though...
But i presume you dont run a business.
You have to make a profit to cover unexpected problems and still manage to pay the bills. If you buy something for £99 you wont get far selling them for £100. A couple of returns and your at a loss.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I bought it on the day it came out from CPW and it was £295. Bit cheeky that they're now charging over £30 more now for the same phone.0

Not cheeky, just business.
If the market is willing to pay £329 for it, that is what any sensible business will charge for it.0 -

Sometimes things go up in cost due to supply or manufacturing cost increases.
Sometimes things are priced low to start with as an introductory discount.
Sometimes, yes, the business looks at something and says "We'd like to make more profit from this, lets put the price up a bit".
It's not being "cheeky", it's running a business.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

Wow, thanks for this - I didn't realise this is how a business works. Next you'll teach me about supply and demand.
It certainly is cheeky.0 -

What part of it is cheeky? The bit where they advertised it at the new price or the part where they expected customers to pay the price it was being advertised at?
Cheeky would be advertising it at a price and jacking on loads of extras when you arrived at the shop, but you didn't say they were doing that.
Cheeky would be them jacking the price up then reducing the price back to the original one and claiming it was a sale price, but again, you didn't say they were doing that.
They're free to advertise it at whatever price they like and we're all free to take our business elsewhere if we think it's "cheeky" somehow, or merely overpriced. Perhaps you could explain to me what exactly is wrong with that. I assume you have a better definition of cheeky than "because peter999 said so"?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

If you go to the bottom of the comparison you can see there is a contract where you pay for the phone (paying more for the phone in contract than on stand alone) and then pay a monthly fee for 24 months.0 -

1. Don't be a knob, he was offering helpful advice. How was he meant to know you knew how business work? You're the cheeky one!
2. It's not cheeky, it's business. If they can get more then why not? They're there to make money, shock horror.0 -
Were google not originally offering these at a heavily subsidized price just to "get them out there"?35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good
When you are done moaning remember that there are people who would love to have your standard of living!0 -

Just checked and I can confirm Google is still selling them at the same price (i.e. £299) for the 16 GB model.
I haven't seen other retailers markup the price of iPhones so not sure why they are marking up the price of Nexus 5.0
