Saturday/Sunday 28th/29th December - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning  hope you're all well & chipper this morning
gosh it's great to have so many days off in one go. Still only Saturday :j Not much going on DFW style this weekend as have decided to go for a jaunt down to Brighton with a girlfriend  but will be doing some things
* checked banking - received £11.63 cashback on our 123 account :T
* shifted some funds
* continued working on 2014 spreadsheet - almost done
* making bacon sandwiches & a flask of coffee for the journey. also taking some fruit to nod in the direction of health
* car checks, water, oil, tyre pressure
* ask oh to go drop off bits to dd & collect £20 she owes me
* try not to spend too much! We're going out tonight and then to a spa tomorrow. Hopefully friend has managed to bag us a discount
* just generally have a jolly good time!
That's me! Have a lovely weekend x

Hi everyone!
I have not been out and not spent online so doing really well.
Canceled a big annual bill for Home care with BG. That took some insisting. They like to keep you paying if they can ;0(.
Using a different company in the new year for home care @ a lot less cost.
Un fortunately we need quick help when things break down.
Started on my new gift - a 2014 diary to log in any money i make = surveys, trials, comp wins.....vouchers used...Quidco.....
I have been putting in Oh's holiday dates.
My own SOA = house bills for the year.
x2 lots of washing. ;0( and put the dryer on as we are going away tomorrow. Done small amount of ironing.
Checked fridge and moved food around.Checked dates etc...
I will not tell you nosy lot what is for dinner? going to oven cook some chips though.
Finished the trifle now. The gammon has vanished! i went to bed last night and in the night we had big mice! only a tiny bit left now! not a bad thing though!
The dog has plenty of biscuits, so she is ok.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Hi,
Good day today on the whole:
-Guests gone home now, so heating turned down and/or off.
-Laundry done overnight on Economy 7 tariff. Washer set on timer for same again tonight.
-Grocery shopping day, but still got so much food in, we spent less than £9.
-Free 'Guardian' ("My Waitrose' card)
-2 loaves of decent bread reduced to 45p each.
-Bought Mothers Day gift in sale. £1.49 for something she"ll really like!
-Went in coffee shop but only had a filter coffee, instead of a bucket of foam & did not buy a cake.
-Bought 3 magazines from the magazine man on the market who sells mags any 3 for £2.50.
-Finished using up the rest of the turkey with big batch cooking session this afternoon. Turkey did roast dinner for 4 on Christmas Day, cold dinner for 4 on Boxing Day, turkey & mushroom supreme for 2 yesterday & there are 7 portions of turkey chilli, 2 of turkey madras, 5 portions of turkey soup plus 3 cartons of stock to go in the freezer. I love leftovers!
Think that's everything for today.
Foxgloves x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
- Stuck to only buying a discounted yoghurt in Sainsburys & ran straight to the till before I could spot anything else!
- Yes, I swiped my Nectar card on this very small purchase as well
- Took my sports bottle out with me again for a drink
- Charged my phone up away from home (haha, this one is a favourite, but at least it saves a little of my leccy!
) :www: House Deposit = 100% Purchase Fees = 44%
