FB & Twitter- do you 'unlike' / unfollow companies if not a winner?

publicity hungry firms that need x number of likes / followers, in order to give away a prize.. effective marketing, or desparation?

Do you keep these firms on your timeline, if you don't win?

I don't have facebook any more, so can only answer for twitter.

I don't unfollow straight after the competition has ended, but as I constantly hit my 2000 follower limit, I have to unfollow. I usually keep on following any that I recall from the name as hosting regular competitions, but unfollow some of the others, unless I know that they are fellow compers, rather that people promoting competitions.

I don't enter Twitter comps and yes I do often unlike company pages on FB if I don't win, especially if they are spammy and I am not interested in their trade/goods etc. If a company regularly runs comps or is a good company to interact with then I do still stay a fan. Like Twitter, there is a limit on how many pages you can like on Facebook so I have page culls every so often. I just had one yesterday as I was fed up of some companies posting about 50 sales offers a day!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea
  • I don't enter Twitter competitions as I use my Twitter for other things and it's locked.

On Facebook, I only 'like' and enter comps from big companies that use apps rather than 'we'll choose a winner when we get to 1000 likes' ones. I never unlike them because these tend to be the brands that run competitions regularly. I hide a lot of them from my timeline though.
2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent
  • Funnily enough, I've just spent ten minutes going through my Facebook 'liked' pages and removing any that I only liked because of competitions. I kept a couple because they turned out to be pretty interesting, but most of them I got rid of.
  • I unlike pages only if they contact a winner in a silly way i.e just writing their name on page and not private messaging them etc unliked company recently because of this.Because some people didn't reply to their name they decided to ask on page if anyway else wanted prizes.Wouldn't unlike a page just because haven't won.
