opinions on malta and palm court hotel

hi ive been looking for a 2wk holiday in july and have stumbled across this one through Britishjet.com 2wks halfboard at the palm court hotel £172 each, but reviews on hotel vary from awful to good for price, has anyone been there and if so what was your opinon.

please do not touch with a barge pole, absolutely terrible. We spent one hellish night there, dirty room, mouldy bathroom, patio door that did not lock, wallpaper peeling off the wall, very very bad food hygeine, it appears to be used as a base from which the travel company will then sell you an upgrade to another hotel.

There was a very long queue to change hotels for which they will charge you quite a fee! The arguement wil be that 3* is not the same in Malta as other countries.

not very encouraging think i will go back to my other option turkey, does anyone have any info on Kusadasi and the nazar hotel please.

What a slow site - when I finally got to look most of the so called cheap prices are based on 4 or 6 share. Good luck with your holiday anyway

hi thanks for all your replies, i checked holiday truth site cheers sloopychops and have now gone for 2wks in turkey at the Nazar hotel in kusadai, £570 for both of us , halfboard, flight meals and transfer. once again thanks all.

Probably far too late in the day now, but I stayed at the Palm Court Hotel in June 2006, there were 4 of us in a 2 bedded family room. Yes, the walls could have been more recently decorated, but we were actually on holiday to enjoy the scenery, hot weather and beaches, not to study the interior decorating. Being a qualified chef, I am very fussy over food hygiene and I didn't see anything which gave me cause for concern, there was an excellent choice for all tastes. Our sheets were changed 3 times in the week we were there and so were our towels. My main bugbear was the system for the bar, you couldn't just go and order a drink, you had to get a ticket from reception, then get your drink, a very strange way of doing things. The pool was also great and cleaned daily. As with everything and anything in life, you get what you pay for, I paid £330 for 1 adult and 2 children, I didn't expect the Ritz, so I wasn't disappointed, what I did get was a good budget holiday, we are going back next June as well. :j

We upgraded to The Topaz which is 4* half a mile up the road
I wont go into deals but the dead animal we fished out the bathroom wasnt that nice.
The pool flooded into our room and I ended up in tears

I know the PC is not to everyones tastes and when things go wrong, they seem to go wrong badly, I can only speak from first hand experience and although it was not top class and needed modernising the limited time we were there, (I don't spend my holidays in the hotel, I only eat and sleep there,) I personally had no major problems and didn't witness any either. The Hotel must do something right at some point as they have a repeaters club where people return year after year and the hotel is always very nearly full. As others have said though, if you do arrive and don't like it, you can always upgrade.
