Sorry if posting on wrong forum - there are so many.
I currently have freeview and use a dongle to access the internet.
Mini me has now outgrown cbeebies and neither of us are impressed with the shows in cbbc or citv (bring back maid marian and her merry men and grange hill i say!!). Anyway, cant afford or justify sky or virgin so am looking for an alternative. Want to warchs on the tv rather than the laptop. What options are available? I have only heard of one alternative, netflix, but cant seem to get any info on the web unless i sign up fir a free trial and i dont want to do that, i just want to know first off what the range of kids tv is like, what it costs and whether i can cancel at any time or are you tied in to a contract.
Im not up to scratch with technology at all - prob only person my age to not own a tablet, only moved up to a smart phone few months ago so i need to learn and its not that easy....

Its £6 a month, no contract, cancel anytime. The kids range is great, it appears to be never ending.
I would recommend you have a free month trial and see for yourself.0 -
As ^^ says - although it takes your payment method at the time of signing up, you can cancel during the free month pretty easily online. We've just signed up to chec out the movie offerings but I doubt we'll be extending it beyond the freebie.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Internet via a dongle... Each film or TV show may use upto 1 GB of data..
Can the dongle sustain speeds over 3mb for downloading?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I love Netflix for TV and films. Not sure about kids TV shows, but it has a lot of kids films on there. You can set up different 'people' on it too, so recommendations are relevant. If you have a decent internet connection with lots of GBs usage or unlimited then go for it. Do the free trial and if you like it it's only £6 a month, which I think is worth it if you like TV and films. Their collection has grown a lot from this time last year.0

There is plenty of Thomas the tank engine, Barney the dinosaur, sponge bob.. It's pretty good for kids. It's not as good as Sky, but it's entertaining enough0

Not heard of XBMC and xbmchub? Think it was initially designed as a media centre for Xbox, but now runs on many systems. Also has many plugins. UK internet censorship (web filtering) does block some of the tv and film channels. Also XBMC is free.
If your laptop or PC has a HDMI port, then that is the way to go.0 -
I signed up for the trial two days ago, and have bought a cable so we are using iPad or iPhone app and connecting to our tv, works well and means we can move it to any tv in the house.Too many children, too little time!!!

Netflix is quite good, theres also Now TV from sky but as its we are on MSE then netflix is cheaper.0

XBMC is cheaper still but.. Borderline legal on some things.
Still going to have the issue with the data speed and limit on a dongle though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
