Smallish car with cruise control for disabled driver - any suggestions?

Hi, does anyone know of any smallish cars that are available in automatic and with cruise control?

Around town I am fine, but on longer journeys (over about half an hour) I get totally exhausted having to keep the accelerator pedal pressed down. I know a car can be adapted for hand-controls, but that isn't suitable for me.

Until now I have driven superminis (corsa/polo/fiesta) but these cars do not have the features I need, so I guess I am going to have to look at bigger cars.

Sooooo..... any suggestions?

Many thanks

Daisy

I can't think of any small models with cruise - ask in https://www.honestjohn.co.uk - The Backroom - Discussion - for all things motoring.

BUT.... if you've never used cruise before, don't think of it being the useful item, you might expect. It realy is of little use on the majority of UK roads, as there isn't enough opportunity to use it, fully.

Chances are you'd be resetting it every couple of miles, as, usually, it cancels at the touch of the brake pedal - might give you more to worry about as you travel along!!

& is it only on your current car, the accellerator is giving you the problem? If so, maybe this simply needs a new cable, or adjustment??

Skoda Fabia 1.4 Auto Elegance has cruise control. Currently on offer at £10,945 (normally £11,470). https://www.skoda.co.uk

I was going to say the Skoda Fabia vRS (130bhp Turbo ;)) has cruise control as an option, so is a) dead sexy b) flippin QUICK and c) will have cruise control for those long journies. Oh, and there's a d) being a diesel, will still make 55+mpg when using cruise. ;)

I should also say, that unlike a throttle wired lever, the Fabia's have fly by wire, so there's barely any force needed to floor it. May help even without cruise?

(or get the 74hp SDI Fabia, and buy a nice big brick for the throttle ;))
    Money saving:
Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish

Hi why go to all the expense of new and/or larger car ? Cruise control can be fitted to your existing car.ask your own garage or try local auto electricians ie the firms which advertise as fitting car alarms and carphones. An acquaintance in US had one fitted and I don't know what it cost but wasn't a lot and only took an hour.

Thanks for all the advice - and especially for the tip about having cruise control fitted separately. I have just paid a deposit on a Honda Civic automatic, and the dealer is having CC (and a couple of other adaptations) fitted for me, before I collect it. I am well pleased! THanks again!

If you are virtually confined to a wheelchair, you may get VAT relief on the adaptions:
