Yes, they have been wonderful with us, fantastic advice, and taking some of the stress out of the situation.
  • Yep,

I have nothing but praise for Step Change - they've helped me no end and even better they are really easy to talk to about any aspect and don't judge you no matter the cause of your debt or current circumstances.

Those will be 45 minutes very well spent!

    Welcome aboard

Plenty of stepchange fans on DFW threads. Not for everyone though so try payplan, or national debtline websites, there is also a Christian debt relief site I've heard of. Main thing is if you are going onto to DMP make sure it's a fee-free arrangement, and if it's DRO or Bankruptcy taker advice from the fee free sites first.
Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

I can't recommend Stepchange enough. I have just recently finished an 11 year dmp with them (took this long due to having to reduce hours at work due to ill health and husband lost his business but increased payment when hubby got a job). During that time, I found them to be most supportive, non-judgemental, don't think you're daft when you ring up in a panic to ask what you think is a silly question. They are general all round nice guys who do a fantastic job. Have the call, be honest and see what they come up with.

    Best of luck.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.

  • Before bothering with a DMP make sure the debt is enforceable.
Send out a CCA request to each creditor, you could save yourself money and years of misery.
Any debt pre 2007 is almost certainly unenforceable.
  • Cynicalgit does this include overdrafts? Thanks

  • Don't believe overdrafts are included.
However you could blag it with a template letter to give you more time if it's been passed over to a DCA.
I suggest you Google other sites that specializes in Unenforceable debts.
  • The UE route may give you breathing space for you to save the money towards a F&F offer later on or indeed if unenforceable 6 years until the debt is statute barred.
My experience of DMP is not positive.
You'd be advised to seek further advice.
Both Payplan and Stepchange are sponsored by the Financial Industry and in my opinion are there to reimburse the banks.
!!!!!! 11 years on a DMP is that what you want?
