    Footman James = £1500
    Adrian Flux = £570
    Chaucer Direct = £280

Quite a difference. Chaucer said they'd accept a letter from the insurance companies saying that I'd been with them and not claimed. My own insurance company wouldn't do that. I might not be renewing with them next year!!

I somehow managed to post as Mr Imp last time, but it's me that's having trouble getting insurance.

I found the same swapping my '64 Daf for the current Pug estate. 27 years of claim-free driving that counted for nothing.

On the other hand, those cunning meerkats found me a policy for business use at £330 for the year, which became £290 when I phoned up to confirm and pay. That's less than I'd have been offered even with all the NCD in place from a lot of companies.

I've often thought that NCD is little more than a marketing trick, especially with the companies that offer unusually high discounts. If it really meant anything then there'd be no need to shop round at each renewal ;)

Yes indeed. It was the meerkats who helped me find Chaucer. They even have a bit where if you select that you have no NCD then they ask if you have been a named driver and can prove it. Plus we get a free toy for the little monsters to play with.
