Jessops Pricematch

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Jessops Pricematch thingy is still running?
I'm looking to do this this afternoon if I can, but am not sure it is still a promotion they do?
Looking forward to a prompt reply :)

Only time I tried was last year, where the manager would only agree to price match Currys in-store price which was about £30 cheaper, if I bought a memory card at the same time for about £40 more expensive than I could get it online
  • Yup, a rather unsuccessful trip.
Was told that their stores were "dropping like flies" and so management had stopped the offer. Told them I'd buy online instead, and he said "I'd do the same" ...
Went along to Dixons, who, when asked, presented me with a 2gb XD card (what I was after) but told me that it was £50. I said "ooof. That's a bit steep" only to be told "No, it's the cheapest you can get them anywhere - even online" - when I pulled out the printoff of an online store (that I'd prepared for Jessops) he said "Oh.." and walked off.

    Customer b***dy service eh?

    Cheers,

Then they wonder why many stores are closing down there prices often are over priced and wont price match even a year ago when I asked
  • If you buy any of the camera mags (e.g. what digital camera) they tend to have a voucher in the jessops adverts which can be used to price match cameras and lenses to any prices advertised in that issue (camerawarehouse prices are generally quite a lot cheaper than jessops so matching to those can save a fair amount). I used one recently to buy a canon lens and got about 150 quid off the mad price they had in store.
  • As it happens, I was buying the camera (a Fuji F20 - an excellent companion to my DSLR) from Argos at £79.99 and wanted a cheap XD card to go with it, as I need a card before a social event on Thursday. Looks like I'll have to order online and hope for the best with the famous Royal Mail cockups.

I doubt there will be any offers as Jessops is not a franchise, therefore my guess is that all remaining stock will just get moved to other stores.

There are 2 in Northampton and only 1 is closing so I wouldn't start camping out overnight for deal of the day...
  • A mate of mine works over in one of the Jessop's in Northampton (Peacock Place is the one going in Northampton). According to what she's been telling me 81 stores are closing but for the most part this change over isn't happening till about End of August/September time as this is one of their peak times.

No massive fire/flood sales just yet, but aparently a 'big sale' started the other day, not sure what's been discounted (I need a camera so she's been keeping me up to date).

As for the whole pricematch thing, that ended agesss ago (was going to try it myself), aparently it was a 'special' thing they did last year. All stopped now!
