Faulty sat nav,is it to late to take to the shop?

Hi,
I bought a sat nav 10 months ago,only used it a couple of times but its stopped working completely.
Ive not dropped it or anything like that,it only works for about 10 minutes in the car and then stops working.
The lighter compartment is fine(Ive checked it with friends sat nav) but it wont work with my sat nav.
I have the receipt but not the box,
Would the shop change it for me do you think?
