Where have all my photos gone?

My photos have all disappeared from iphoto on my macbook air. I know I have just clicked wrong button because I have done it before and managed to get them back, but I can't remember how. It's something to do with 'import to library' or 'switch to library'. Can anyone help find my photos?

    Need more info.

What do you see when you launch iPhoto?
What is displayed in the left column?
Which version of iPhoto are we talking about?
What did you just do before?

Thanks for replying. Ive spent the day copying them in from other places.

Left hand column looks same as usual

    Using iphoto 11 9.4.3

I think I clicked import to library or switch to library before they all disappeared.

I would really like to know if I can get them back and what I did wrong as this is the second time I have done this.

If you were importing pictures they should still be in the original location too. Importing just copies them in. If importing from different locations I usually just drag all the files on top of the iPhoto icon in the dock to import them.
Looks like you might need to select switch library again and see what options are presented.
What does last import show? Is anything there?
Is anything showing in Library - Photos
If you haven't closed down iPhoto since doing this then you could go to the edit menu and undo your previous actions.

Thanks. I think they are stored away in the library. I have now found the photos in a file but need to understand about how it all works.
