From a mate....
Bought some footy boots for the daughter for Xmas £160 but knocked down to £120 because of promotion.
They're a bit tight for her so she took them back today to change them for a bigger size.
However they charged her the extra £40 because the promotion had finished.
Doesn't seem right. - Anyone offer some advise?

Your friend had no legal rights to return the boots at all if they simply don't fit (unless they are not the size they claim to be), so will be relying on store policy. Unless they have a policy that explicitly says you can exchange sale items after the sale without paying the difference then they have done nothing wrong.
Some shops would even have refused the refund altogether.0 -
Any exchange is beyond what they needed to do.
If bought from a shop then they could have just said no.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
A lot of shops seem to have large quantities of certain sizes in their sales probably due to these particular sizes not being too popular hence then having plenty of unsold stock.
If shops didn't have the policy of charging the current price for exchanges, all that some people would do is to buy the reduced items even if they didn't fit then when the sale had finished and the store stock had been replenished, take the unwanted item back and change it for one that fitted.0
