Playing malformed .ts files on android

Bit of a ling shot but...

My HD recorded stores files in a .ts format that vlc player on PC is happy to play.

However MX player and BS player on android do not like the TS files.

The problem seems to be that the recorder starts recording on whatever channel is tuend then if the tuner is not on the channel to be recorded it switches after about 10s to the correct channel. The android players will play up to the switch point but then just freeze and it is not possible to jump to any pont in the recording beyond the channel switch point.

I have tried converting/re-authoring/croping the dodgy .ts files but the editing tools also seem to fall over at the channel switch point.

Anyone any suggestions? One avenue might be that VLC player under windows can play the files, unfortunately the android version of VLC player seems to only want to play streams not .ts files.
I think....

I don't have a .ts file to test with, but XBMC plays everything I throw at it.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

Try VLC on your PC and use "Convert/Save" to convert it to an MP4 or OGG or even another .TS format, that should iron out the problems with the channel change stopping playback.

    BTW..What recorder have you got?

Have tried xmbc on the PC but it won't play beyond the first 10s :(

Great minds but already tried this and vlc only saves the first 10s when I run the convert/save :(

Player is a Technicka that was marketed as Fetch TV and sold off cheap when fetch tv went belly up, it still works as a pvr and freeview hd box with wireless and cable lan but the servers which enabled iplayer were switched off earlier this year.

    Try this :

    http://www.bitstreamtools.com/

it's a long shot but it might be able to edit the first 10 seconds or so out of the file to let it play correctly.

By no means a VLC expert and don't have a ts file handy to test this on but you can do a partial file save just by using the Record button (View > Advanced controls) to start and stop the edit process.
So if the ts file plays happily on your PC just set it playing and press the Record button after the dodgy switch point and let it play to the end. The resultant saved file should be an exact copy without the bit at the beginning.
