Old Style Fuses

Hi

Getting the house rewired in a few weeks, so have to contend with old fuses and box - where can I get spares like these from? Any ideas?

if you#re having a rewire you will get a new fuse board - and they don't have fuses like that, but circuit breakers, so not sure why you need spares??

The living room fuse blew yesterday and had to swap for lights downstairs so don't have any lights in hall way. Could do with one for the next few weeks until rewiring is complete. Any solutions? What kind of circuit breaker would do job? Links?

Yes that fuse box will be the first thing to go!

If you want spares you can get them off eBay searching for wylex fuse.

You just need some fuse wire to fit in them.
    5a for the white ones.
    15a for blue.

If a blue one has failed search for 15a wylex fuse on eBay and buy one that looks the same and is working.
Or take it to someone who can replace the fuse wire.
You undo the screws on the end the thread a new wire through.

    Ah, I see

    Buy one of these

You will need to swap over the fuse carrier (the white plastic thing behind the trip switch) as the switch won't fit in the existing one in your board. Make sure you switch off all power by switching off the main switch before you do the swap.
