Item not received from Amazon

My son ordered something from Amazon on 15th Dec as a Christmas present for me and the delivery was stated as between 19th and 24th Dec.
It has not arrived yet despite stating online that it had been despatched.
Because it has not arrived, today my son went to town and bought what he had ordered from Amazon so I presume he can send back the item at no cost to himself, if it arrives, because of late delivery?
Or will he have to pay return postage?

Start a claim, I did this recently and Amazon refunded in 2 days. Still not received 3 weeks later but I've got my money. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Simply refuse signing for it at delivery or complete return online and you'll get an option for received too late and a free return label.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

You are absolutely right.
Did I write, or even imply, anything different?0 -

On the bright side, when new regs start applying to contracts, they'll only have 14 days (from receiving the item back). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
