i need to paint a radiator cover but am unsure what sort of paint to use - the boxed instructions only advise not to use a water based paint - can anyone help?

I used an ordinary wood primer, then eggshell/satin wood, so it was easier to wipe clean after the dog shook all over it. The johnson paint was good, the dulux quick dry was terrible - I wouldn't use it again. I did it a few months ago, and its standing up fine to the wear and tear. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
You dont say what the cover is made off, is it MDF, or melamine type?0

Hi, we made MDF covers for radiators in our church hall, but used water-based emulsion, and they've been fine and hard-wearing. I don't know why you'd be recommended not to use water-based paint.
So, we've been fine, but can anyone else shed light on this?
