Costs of uninstalling/reinstalling faulty tap

Hi - in April 2013 I bought a mixer tap which I had installed in my bathroom by a plumber. The lever on the tap to switch between the shower head flow and normal mixer tap flow is broken and the tap is still under warranty. I have contacted the retailer who has e mailed the manufacturer and we are awaiting a response to find out what they want to do. I am assuming that I am going to need to remove the broken tap and then have a new one fitted (clearly depending on what the manufacturer wishes to do). This will mean that I have to get a plumber back to do this which will not be cheap. My question is whether or not the manufacturer or retailer are obliged to pick up any costs that I incur as a result of the faulty tap needing to be replaced???

Unless the retailer arranged the fitting then responsibility falls to the fitter (plumber sourced by you).
Since it's also over six months the burden is now on you to prove fault was with the tap at time of purchase, this you take up with the retailer.
The manufacture will replace the tap under warranty but this is where they end and have no liablilty to you.
If you want consequential losses you need to take it up with the retailer.0 -
Fitting a mixer tap is quite easy. Plenty of YouTube videos to show you how...
(So plumber not required)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

The way I read the OP, Robson1978 purchased the tap themselves and then sourced the plumber. If this is the case then the plumber surely has no liability unless the fault was caused by the installation?0
