This sounds like what you are looking for, not cheap at £100 though!

Just had a reply from lightwave ref my 'problem':
Please note that the LightwaveRF switch dimmers cannot be utilised to operate an on/off lighting circuit. You would need to replace your lighting with dimmable bulbs if you wanted to use the LightwaveRF Wireless Control 1 Gang 2 Way 250W Light Switch/Dimmer(JSJS LW200.) Another solution would be to utilise a LightwaveRF Inline Relay which would operate the on/off circuit if you wish to retain standard non-dimmable bulbs/led's: http://www.lightwaverf.co.uk/LightwaveRF-3000W-on-off-Inline-Relay-JSJS-LW830.html
So reading this I think if the new ceiling lights are dimmable then the remote controlled switch dimmer should do the job.
If lights are not dimmable then the inline relay should be used.
In any case it looks as though a solution to operating a ceiling light without a 'standard' wall switch is acheiveable.
Hope this info will help others in similar situations. I can now talk to my sparky with some ideas.0
