I think that option might have been to register for Pingit, because you need your debit card to register, either using PINSentry or a Barclays cash machine.JuicyJesus wrote: »Last time I used one there was an option to use Pingit. Didn't choose it, since I wasn't using it.0 -
So I guess the "Spring 2014" date simply means you'll be able to do it from your own banks online banking and mobile app?
Yes, you won't need to have a special 'app' to do it or to register with Barclays (as is the case to use Pingit).
Instead, the system will work with all the big banks - just use your mobile number and a database will check which account is registered with that number and send the money to that account automatically.

Will that mean you have to have a different mobile number registered for each bank account?0

I'd imagine so, else otherwise it wouldn't know where to send the money. Most people only have a single mobile phone and a lot of people only a single bank account, so it's not a problem.
Other people will probably just register their "main" account.0 -
A few people have several current accounts for the various benefits (for me I have 3 Halifax accounts for the rewards, one smile account, and one nationwide which is being set up now), others have a lot more accounts, all have my mobile number associated with them incase they need to get hold of me for fraud detection purposes. I assume I could register the main account for the new service but keep my mobile number on the others for contact purposes0

It is not very reassuring to know that in the US where it has already been introduced that S1bn fraud occurs.

It would be a terrible situation if customers accounts were debited each time the cheque was deposited.0
