Although annoying did it really ruin your xmas?
If not being able to play Zelda for 5 days ruins your xmas then they must be pretty bad to start off withThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Christmas is only ruined if you let it be. There are people without electricity, whose homes are flooded and having to spend Christmas in a day centre. I think perhaps a little perspective is needed.0

The people who ruined your Cristmas are the selfish ones who redeemed the game. I can see John Lewis stopping returns on these items.0

As others have said, these people would love to swap places with you: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/10537791/Severe-flooding-forces-hundreds-out-of-their-homes-on-Christmas-Day.html
Yes, you've had a disappointment. You actions now determine whether christmas is 'ruined'. You have a choice!
I suggest you take advantage of the lull in the weather and get the family out for a walk in a park or the countryside. Much better than playing computer games!0 -

A few months back i ordered online a pc graphics tablet as a gift. When i received it i noticed it wasn't sealed so looked inside. The surface had marks from use and the software is redeemed by a code. I rang the manufacturer and they said the code can be used once then locks to the account, and you have to phone customer services to have it unlocked. As i was a gift i didn't want to give someone a used present so contacted john lewis and they said it was probably a return because they let customers try items with the option to return them. Anyway i got a replacement and it was all fine.
Fast forward to the end of november and i was getting my xmas shopping and my dd wanted the zelda edition of a wii u. I order it on john lewis and was surprised it wasn't sealed so looked inside. It had a download code for the game instead of an actual disc, but the packaging looked ok (no tears or fingerprints) so i wrapped it up. Dd opened it for xmas as was really excited and tried to download the game but ninetendos site was down with heavy traffic, so got up to do it first thing today. Success getting through...then it came up saying the code had already been redeemed. I tried contacting ninetendo to see if they can unlock the code and their customer support is closed until 30th. I rang john lewis and they said they can't give me a new code, which i said i knew that - but how can they sell as new (£250!) games consoles with redeem only once codes and yet accept returns and resell them?? Why don't they have scratch panels over the codes? The helpline have said i have to take it up with ninetendo and there's nothing they can do.
John lewis have had £250 off me for a "new" wii u which is useless as we haven't a game for it. Dd xmas is spoilt and we have to sit around until 30th december until we can contact ninetendo and see if they can unlock the code. I think it is appalling that john lewis doesn't care that they are sending out items which can't actually be used because they have let previous customers redeem the codes then return items. I shouldn't have used them again after the graphics tablet incident, and i certainly won't use them again after this.
Please be aware of this policy when buying a gift for someone..

tbh this is a rants forum - why should a person be denied a rant because of other happenings - this could be applied to every day of the year - the logic being that nobody should rant as there would always be something worse happening on that day that may make the 'rant' insignificant.
Such as families having to use food banks0
