I was hoping to try to improve my credit rating by taking out one or two store cards. I was wondering if Store card credit is regarded in the same esteem as a credit card.

Sore cards? Well, mine are probably a bit sore after lots of recent use!
As to answer your question - its treated in the same way as a normal credit card and will show up on your credit file, so as long as you manage it effectively, you will be seen as a good risk.0 -
be warned though
store cards have ridiculously high interest rates so don't ever use them unless you are going to pay them off in full every time0 -
store card even harder to get, I never had any problems in the past but was declined store card while credit card was easy to obtain!0
