    True.

At the other end of the scales you'll find people like Margaret Thatcher, Stalin and Adolf Hitler, who were also less than perfect.

Probably a good thing that we are all different and bring different qualities and perspectives to the world we live in.

yes indeed, although I would see Hilter and Stalin as being evil whereas Gandhi and Mandela as, sadly, well intentioned but misguided.

Sad really, as Gandhian patronising attitudes to the poor in Indian prevented development of clean water and sewerage systems, prevented foreign investment and kept 100s of millions in un-necessary poverty.

Mandela, whilst having some admirable qualities, was too cowardly to address the two major African problems: AIDS/HIV (10 of millions of preventable deaths) and the massive corruption amoungst the ruling African elite (his fellow freedom fighters) which continues unchecked today.

The both could have made a real difference but choose a different path.

George W Bush and Bill Gates have done more to help combat the spread of aids in Africa than all the African leaders put together.

I'm vaguely centrist economically and very Libertarian.

I'm exactly economically centrist and highly Libertarian. There don't seem to be any examples that fit this profile but I imagine they'd be really cool.

Am I missing something? Milliband, Gillard?

So slightly to the right of centre and slightly more libertarian than authoritarian. Nobody in my sector on the display.
