Visiting Faro in January

We are staying on The Strip area.
Wondering about doing a day in Lisbon, as there doesn't seem much to do in Faro. Is it worth it? It's 48 Euros return per person so quite expensive.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Are you staying in Faro itself or in Albufeira? You've mentioned 'the strip' and that's usually how people refer to the livelier area of Albufeira and not Faro.
There is plenty to do in the Algarve and it is quite easy to get around. For £48 at that time of year you could hire a car for several days and see other resorts and places of interest. If you are staying in Albufeira there is the old town which is worth a look and easy to walk too from the strip, or take the mini train which runs around town.
Nearby is Vilamoura, Quarteira, Portimao, Alvor, (all within 45 mins) and Faro itself. Tavira is near to Faro and has a great beach thats part of a natural park area and the Monchique mountains are nearby too.
Lisbon is a great city but I would say it deserves it's own mini break rather than a day trip.Lea0 -
I've been to Lisbon for the day from Faro and I would say that you can see a fair bit in the time. I wouldn't bother with an organised trip. Hire a car, as already suggested.0

I wouldn't bother with a day trip to Faro. There's not much there.
I really like Albufeira but prefer the Old Town area rather than the Club 18-30 vibe of "the Strip". However, in January to the whole area should be fairly quiet.0 -

Yes Albufeira, I thought that was in Faro lol. We are staying from Tuesday late afternoon until Saturday late afternoon. Going in January it looks to be quite cold so guessing we won't want to visit a beach. My friend won't go on boats, sit in a car too long or walk far as she has an ear problem, she will complain. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

I can drive, but my friend won't sit in an car for hours. She has said she would prefer taking a train there. Is that easy to do?No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Have a look through this lot and see what floats your boat...

I would particularly recommend the Cristo Rei Statue.
