This is one of the many problems with open-ended funds for less liquid underlying assets.
I'm slowly moving to equal weight for small/mid gaps globally and rebalancing into commodities and EM.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
There is some evidence that funds do less well once soft closed - this article is quite an interesting read.

OOps! already mentioned
As an aside Have you looked at Unicorn UK Smaller Companies as an alternative, it is a bit more nimble with only 38mill as opposed to 1177mill under management. It is a bit less volatile than the Cazenove fund TN-72 rather than TN-84 and has also beaten it over 1 year.:D
CF Miton UK Smaller Companies is even smaller at 8 million and has done better than both but has little track record.0 -
i have this fund in my ISA, and intend to hang on.
that said, it is with HL, and so if i look to transfer away from HL, i might come out of it by default.0
