Has anyone ever amended a National Express coach ticket?

I phoned them up to change the date of my return journey, and paid some money, and they said I don't get a new ticket and I just have to write a 4 letter code on my ticket (the 4 letters are the same as the journey reference of the return journey that I am amending).

I am really worried that the bus driver is going to look at my ticket and go 'nah wrong day' and not let me on.

It's an e-ticket, I printed it out from my e-mail.

Has anyone else had their ticket amended? Was the procedure the same? I'd have thought they'd e-mail me a new ticket.

National Express don't do foreign destinations, so there would be little point. Its Eurolines you need to go with, another part of the Group.
