I have a watch.
It was bought about 12 years ago, from H.Samuel.
It's a Casio, waterproof to 200m.
The battery stopped, so I took it to H.Samuel in Wolverhampton, where I was told it would cost £21.99 and the watch would be ready for 31st December.
It had to be taken to their Merry Hill centre for the 200m depth testing.
I got a text last week telling me that they were pleased to say the watch was ready for collection, so I popped in before work today to pick it up.
The shop assistant pulled the watch out of the back room, unwrapped it and charged me £21.99.
When I got my watch, the little 'winder' was pulled out, stopping the watch and the watch was set to the wrong date.
On putting the watch right and popping the winder in, the watch failed to work. :eek:
I collared another shop assistant and told her the problem. She took the watch and receipt back and spent close to twenty minutes getting to the root of the problem.
My watch is too old to repair. :eek: :eek: :eek:
Having determined this, the Merry Hill technicians sent the watch back with no explanation either with the watch or on the computerised system they use to track progress.
I was refunded and left with a not working watch.
So I went to Timpsons.
Who charged me £11.95 for a new battery and a 50m pressure seal.
It's now water resistant not waterproof.
Yah boo to H. Samuel for their lack of communication and to the modern world of watches where 12 years is too old.
I mean it's hardly an antique, is it? :mad:

Mine went into H. Samuel for a new battery, £16 was the cost. Had the watch for many years of trusted service.
Off it went into the backroom whilst I went off buying Christmas presents.
Got back to collect it to be told the shaft of the winder was bent inside so would need repairing for £45 (plus the £16 for the battery).
How in the World could the shaft get bent on the inside of the workings aside from some clown bending it trying to get it apart (to change the battery maybe)?
I thanked them for their talentless contribution and took my broken watch away with me.
