Don't stress too much. I have an interview outfit for NHS interviews which consists of navy blue trousers, a white tee shirt with a light blue shirt over. It is clean and ironed but plain. I've got two temp jobs and now a permanent job wearing that outfit. I am female by the way.
  • Hi

Good luck and dont stress too much over what you are wearing. I was once told that an interviewer will take one glance at you and decide whether you look smart or not - after that they dont think about your clothes.

I didnt buy a suit for my job interview 3 months ago. I am glad now that I didnt because I got the job and its not really necessary to be that formal in the office so a suit would have been a waste of money. Unless you can pick one up very cheaply in the sales I wouldnt spend too much.

I wore a long sleeved blouse, skirt, thick opaque tights and low heeled shoes.

    HI OP
well doen on weight loss firstly.secondly well done on getting a job interview.

I was just wondering...Its cold, the employers know dat.so if you could wear a coat which you take off once inside the building, would the blouse not be enough on its own?????

that is if you'd rather not buy a new jacket to wear on top of the blouse.
and also consider, if you do ge the job, dont NHS admin wear uniforms??

    just my thoughts

Thanks again everyone and thanks for the kind words about my weight loss :)I currently work in a clinical job in the NHS so usually wear a uniform anyway hence the fact I have absolutely no idea! Would rather not wear a coat as the only one that fits me is a cheapo sports type one from Sports Direct so it's not the most decent of coats! I'm thinking I definitely need trousers anyway so if I can find a cheap jacket in the sales or EBay and I'll put my cardie over that that should I think suffice. Now it's just finding one..!!! Thanks everyone, you've all been really helpful and given me some good ideas :)

Sorry just to clarify instead of a coat and I will remove the cardi when I get to the gates of the hospital. I feel the cold badly and have circulation problems and will have to travel to the interview on public transport. The interviewers will have no notion I have a cardie at all. Sorry - I was on my phone when I typed the earlier post and I cant always see everything I've typed.

sainsury, tesco and asda do cheap trousers and jackets.

    Charity shops are awesome.

And all the sales are on.

But I echo everyone else - well done on the weight loss but stay away from that cardigan!

    Hi everyone
Just wanted to update - interview is tomorrow. I totally forgot about the neckline on the shirt I was planning to wear and it didn't hide my tattoos and it was way too low anyway.. so I found a jacket, a pair of trousers and a shirt in a charity shop of all places - the trousers are fab, they're Next high waisted ones and look almost new, the jacket has been obviously worn but is still smart and not shabby, goes nicely with the trousers, and the shirt is a nice white high necked short sleeved one with narrow blue pinstripes and fits me like a glove. All for the bargainous price of 1.99 each :) I've polished my shoes and everything is good to go. Now I just need to worry about the typing test..!!
