Extra Tax Credits Payment

Hi
My tax credits payment is generally due on a thursday. Last week, however, I received a payment on the monday (16/12/13) and another on the thursday (19/12/13.)
I presumed this was an early payment due to the christmas period, but the lady at my local credit union said this often happens when someone changes bank accounts (which I did a couple of weeks ago.)
Has anyone else came across this?
Thanks in advance

  • Generally anytime a change is made on your tax credits, you receive a one off payment. It shouldn't happen with a change of bank details but does sometimes depending on how the change was updated by the adviser. It isn't an extra payment, it's taken into account for your future payments.
Many thanks. That would explain why my weekly payments have reduced by about £13 if a recalculation has been done.
