  • Betty's is lovely though, I used to work at their bakery years ago and their attention to detail and quality checks are impressive. Only the very best. I used to go home with rejects that were delicious almost every day. Likely where my belly came from :D

I'd like to take my kids for tea and cakes some time but it's definitely something only for a special treat or if you win the lottery!

Aw, what a lovely way to meet your future hubby Sylvia :)

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

Harrogate is lovely purple/Sheils :) was a while ago since I went there though! I went to knaresbrough as a child with school too but can't remember much. Is that where mother shiptons cave is? (I've forgotten! :o)

Glad you had a nice time at DH's sons Sylvia. That sounds so romantic how you met your DH heartsmile.gif

Been to bingo with mum & sis as I can't go on Sunday. We didn't win but dad had made some lovely home made fadgies when we got back! Mmm! ;)

What are fadgies wingo? Looks like Mothers Shiptons cave is there - that is why I have heard of it. Have been meaning to go there too so that will work nicely for us.

I remember that mother shiptons cave was scary as a kid, if you touched the sides you were cursed! Or so we were told!

Does your dad make stotties too?

I'll remember not to touch the sides of the cave then! :D
I'm having a cuppa and then off to bed. The wind has suddenly stopped thank goodness. Sounds like it is coming back next week though. :(

What's stotties? :o My dad only started baking when mum took ill. Now he loves it and makes flans, corned beef pies, cheese pasties etc! Puts me to shame! :D
I'm not totally sure about mother shiptons cave or the curse but I'm sure purple will be able to explain better. Enjoy your trip :)

" Stotties are famous in the North East of England, particularly but not exclusively around Newcastle. The stottie or stottie cake as it is also known is a large, round, flat bread"

We have seen them in your area but have never tasted them.

  • I'm not sure I'll be any help about the Mother Shipton curse. The last time I went was on my DH's first trip over to see me and we spent the time in the cave having a quick snog :D

I used to take my kids to feed the ducks there when they were little. It's a lovely riverside walk with sculptures along it.

I only know of her prophesies about the world ending (which hasn't happened) and us all riding in horseless carriages (which has) x

I've already been to bed once, now I'm up again as my youngest DD has an upset stomach :o

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx
