House renovation insurance

I am buying an old house outright (no mortgage) which will be totally renovated taking approx' 4-6 months to complete. It is of normal construction ie brick & tiles. I have gone through the comparison websites and cannot find insurance to cover the renovation. I've found insurance for self builds, building insurance but not renovations. I want to take out building insurance so should the worst ever happen and it burns down, I will have cover. No one will be living on the premises while the first stages of the renovation are being carrying out.
Can anyone suggest a good insurance company that specialises in renovation insurance please?

Not a recommendation but either speak to Towergate or a local traditional broker (other than Swinton) and they will be able to sort something. Towergate specialise in non-standard policies like second home, unoccupied etc and write on behalf of a consortium of insurers

Your best bet is to try the unoccupied property insurance market. Typing in "Unoccupied property insurance - including renovations" into Google should bring you a list of companies who do it.

Prices will be more expensive - probably in the region of £1.50 or £2.00 per thousand before deductions for excesses etc.
