How happy are the kids wondering around looking at things? Paris has some absolute wonders in Pere Lachaise, and l'Opera, but if the kids don't enjoy that sort of thing, you might find it difficult0

I think you should show them all the 'famous' sights, think of it as part of their education! So I'd suggest:
- Eiffel Tour: go up in the daytime (early) but also show it to them lit up at night
- boat trip down the Seine
- Quick visit to Louvre for Mona Lisa
- Montmartre to see Sacre Coeur, artists and the view (they'll enjoy the funicular to)
- Champs Elysee
- plenty of visits to restaurants/coffee shops and insist they practise their French asking for things

Pere Lachaise is very interesting. If they like quite spooky stuff, the Catacombs are good http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g187147-d189229-r121276657-The_Catacombs_Les_Catacombes-Paris_Ile_de_France.html. A trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower is good and try not to miss going to Montmartre (Sacre Coeur) to watch the sunset from there (you can get a little tram to the top and there was a nice waffle stand when I went!). Montmartre itself is very interesting but keep alert to the chaps wanting to do your portraits in the streets (the main chaps are in the little square), they can be hard to get rid of.
The Conciergerie (prison during the Revolution, where King Louis and Marie-Antoinette were held) is also fascinating - http://conciergerie.monuments-nationaux.fr/.
Even walking down the Champs Elysee and people-watching is quite good (but then, I like that sort of thing). Also good is a trip on the Bateaux Mouches - the boat trips down the river (best way to see some of the beautiful buildings) - http://www.bateaux-mouches.fr/en
Hope this is helpful. I'm very jealous - I love Paris but haven't been able to afford to go in years! Have a great time.

The Paris Science Museum is quite good if you're after something a bit different - and has a 3D Imax cinema.
We also enjoyed the Eiffel Tower, a boat cruise, the Notre Dame, The Louvre.0 -
Thanks for all the great suggestions. The kids are back with me on Boxing Day and I can't wait to give them their Christmas present. We can spend the day looking at all your suggestions and planning our holidays.
Thanks again, it's been a tough two years for them since my ex (the idiot) went off and I am so pleased I have managed to save enough to take them. The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

Was wondering about buying a Paris pass but will have to check what it gets us versus individual entry-we are going in February so shouldn't be too busy but don't want to spend money unnecessarilyThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

A lot will depend on how much time you have there - is it just a day?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Not too sure about the Paris pass, but you can save money if you get a travelcard for the Metro (underground) - http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_21879/tourists/0 -
