Argos Click and Collect Customer service Praise

The toaster we bought a few months ago went 'bang!' yesterday morning. Who keeps a toaster receipt for three months? Not me! I knew I'd got it through 'Click and Collect' and thought that perhaps my online Argos account record there would show a record of the purchase - but no luck there. However, I rang Argos customer services, who transferred me to the Click and Collect section. The call handler there was excellent - with only the vaguest of info from me ('I think it was about the end of September... I think it was on xxx card... I think it was about £xxxx....) she managed to work out the date, time, place and price of the purchase, give me a transaction number and all the info I needed to do a store return. We went to the store, gave them the toaster and the info, they swapped it, and we were home again for tea and toast in no time at all!

I know from harsh experience that not all retailers make it this straightforward if something stops working but you haven't got the receipt - so praise definitely due to Argos on this occasion at what must be one of the busiest times of the year for them.
