Currys delivery left a dirty stain on beige carpet

Their delivery man left a terrible stain on my carpet which came from the underside of, what was a very grimy, box packaging. I didn’t notice the stain till both the individuals had left. The box was slid across the floor, and undoubtedly the delivery man would have noticed the mark he had left. Rather than acknowledge or apologise as one would have expected, he instead made a quick exit.
I wrote to Curry's Customer Service - and the response was "Having viewed the photographs in question, it appears that the stain can be removed with warm soapy water. As such, we are not in a position to offer compensation on this occasion.".
Considering I spent over an hour and half trying to clean it, it is a pretty pants response! Anything more I can do?

Has the stain gone now?Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0

Do their terms and conditions or leaflets say anything about their delivery service that is relevant?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0

Well what exactly are you after? The stain has gone after all. And as far as "undoubtedly" goes it's undoubtedly an assumption you're making that the delivery driver saw it.0

It is gone. Not without the inconvenience though.
Well unless they choose to be festive and give you a bit of good will the onus is on you to prove that their delivery men caused the damage. After you have proved that (which won't be easy) you are quite within your rights to request payment for your time along with cost of any detergent - maybe £20 in total. If they won't pay then it is letter before action and a summons to head office. You'll then have to prove again to the judge that it was their fault and in return he would award you the £20.
Can't see a judge taking too kindly to a case where the claim is so low and 90% of it being for labour costs. At the same time I couldn't see a large company allowing the case to go to court.
Is it worth it? Only you can answer that.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

Law doesn't really entitle you to anything for inconvenience. Only for actual losses incurred.
Doesn't stop you asking them for a goodwill gesture but they're not obligated to provide one.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

She would be able to give her costs for time to remedy the fault. All something of nothing.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

See my post above. You can only claim for actual losses incurred. By law you are expected to mitigate your losses - which OP has done by cleaning the carpet.
Unless they had to pay for a special stain remover, they have no actual losses. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Write to head office explaining that you have been inconvenienced and complain about the original incident and the attitude of the local branch to your complaint.
Make some comment about their standards slipping and that when your next major appliance is due for replacement you will be looking to (their competitor) first.
