Leylandi tree turned brown
Hi all,
We have a 50-60ft Leylandi tree in the garden which turned completely brown over a couple of months this year.
Not sure what caused it - aphids? drought? poisoning?
But is it liable to become a danger in high winds and if so how much does it cost to get rid?
Cheers!

I asked a similar question to a local tree surgeon type guy. (I think your estimate may be over the top, mine is a monster at almost 40ft.)
He said £200 taken awayI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
OK thanks, not too bad, was expecting more and probably will be here.
Would you advise doing just that?

Leylandii never 'green up', so you've really no option.0 -
I understand leylandii have quite shallow roots. One tall dead tree with shallow roots + the high winds going on at the moment = take it down before there is any risk of it crashing to the ground itself.
That's how I'd be thinking of it..and wondering about claims if it hit someone else or their property in the course of crashing to the ground.0
