Linked Detatched Garage Question...

We live in a Detached Bungalow that has a linked Detached Garage.

We would like to remove the up-over-door and replace it with a standard d/g door and block & render the wall.

What Authority would we get into contact with please?

regards

Planning authority first, then it depends on why you would want to do such a thing. If you intend to have it as some sort of living area ,you will have to go through building control as well. If its going to remain a external shed for want of a better word, building control probably wouldn't to know. But the planners certainly will either way.

Point of law 'm lord, it's a contradiction in terms, :D:D

On a serious note I wouldn't get in touch with anyone, I'd tell my neighbour what I was doing and simply do it.

But I think there is more afoot?, is this a change of use?, converting a garage into living space? That's the real question.

But again, if it was my house, well I guess you get my drift;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

A what? how is it linked if it's detached?

The authority(s) you have to contact are dependent on the proposed use, if you are looking to make it habitable then building regs would (probably) apply and planning may also be applicable - in the first instance I would try and discuss it with someone at the la planning office

We have had our kitchen extended across the driveway that led to the garage so now we would like to turn the garage into a workshop / garden tools etc.

The present up-over door is very dated and almost due for replacement.

We have spoke to our neighbour who has no objections to our plans.

Maybe I have quoted an incorrect term here but the Garage is detached from our Bungalow but attached to the neighbours garage which is detached from his Bungalow.

Thanks for all information received and a very pleasant Festive to all.
