  • Just checked dd last flight which is nice to luton and showing as estimated 40 mins delay so looks like all will be ok as she is on same plane the whole day so obviously all other flights have been fine.

Midwinter has you ds1 not been offered anything until morning.
If there are quite a few people in paris trying to get back and he is high up the list then could be offered a huge amount to stop over and get morning flight.
My dds airline doesnt fly xmas day but some flight crews have to be on standby incase of emergengies like this when they would put flights on.

Where is ds1 destination airport? If they can fly him into another airport then all travel to destination airport will be covered by airline.

Hoping for a mild winter as dd used to spend a lot of time being taxied around.
She was in iceland a couple of weeks ago and nearly didn't get home. So lucky she had annual leave when vulcano went up as some were stuck for quite a few days.

Dgd is being a little darling. Night Garden playing on loop and she is now busy lining her books up.
Hoping son in law is home in time for whoopsies as I would like turkey crown then dad can cook it tomorrow night and we could have half each. I am definatley not up to taking dgd shopping. Such a shame as was taking her to my ds1 to drop presents off. Have to try and catch him in tomorrow.

I love hearing about everyones festive plans even though I detest it.

This thread has a lovely warm glow to it today:)

I've just been chatting to Mad's sister and wanted to tell her how much had been raised in his name but cannot find any link to the Just giving page on the first post of this thread or the previous one :(:(. I cannot find it in my bookmarks either unfortunately, so will have to tell her next time I chat to her, but thought it would be nice to have the link on the first posts so people could see how generous everyone was/is. Just a thought, only pop in and out as so busy with RL, that don't even get on my own mse thread as much.

Happy Christmas to everyone, hope you all have a great mse Christmas and Many thanks for the many pm's I received from me

So good that your DD will be getting home today! And can enjoy Christmas with her little one, as well as the rest of the family :)

Only had info from airline, haven't heard further from DS, so just waiting to hear further details really.

Not exactly a glitch, but with Coupons, definitely the Nouvelle :), and the free Uncle Bns rice was rather useful too!

The biscuits at T's were an excellent glitch :)

Royal icing is used to pipe lettering and flowers etc; it sets very hard. You probably wouldn't want to use it to ice a whole cake as it would crack when you cut it.
Icing sugar is more for icing a whole cake.
These links probably explain it better:)

For a cheesecake, I would say use icing sugar.

I have always made Royal Icing for my special cakes. Adding glycerine stops it from setting too hard :)
Thanks both, I would be adding it to the whipped cream, would it be ok for that?

If not, I may have to get the other one at the shop.

If it's powdered royal icing, it will have dried egg white in it.

Can't see any reason why it can't be added to a cheesecake, you're basically using it as a sweetener I would have thought.

Thanks motherbear, have just emailed his sister the page and said how proud she can be that her brother was thought of so much by so many. Thanks again everyone, a fab sum of just under £1500 was donated.
