Am with O2/Sky for bband and line rental. Am due to migrate in Jan I would prefer not to have Sky and am looking at Plusnet. They get good reviews in Which. Any NI folks have Plusnet and what do you think of them?

Yes been with PlusNet for 4 years now at 2 different properties. No problems with connections (other than BT exchange issues).
They are UK based and good to talk to via their ticket system or by phone. I would recommend their broadband products.
Can't comment on phone line though as still with BT for that.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)

As Robin, I have been with PlusNet for a few years with no issues, again with BT for line rental.
My Sister has Plusnet package, she had one issue when the BB went down, I checked internal wiring and proved fault was external but it took a few days between Plusnet and Openreach to sort it, both companies told here if it was internal she would be charged. It was resolved in the exchange without a home visit!Dave0 -
Just came off the phone requesting MAC key. Guy was horrified that I would actually want to leave,I eventually got him to request MAC0

plusnet is owned by BT
recent review
PlusNet is owned by BT but it's run as an independent subsidiary. Its close relationship with BT may have something to do with its ability to offer aggressively low pricing on both standard and fibre broadband packages.0 -
I've been with PlusNet for many years and have had no trouble at all,
In fact I'm just of the phone with them as I changed my package and on the first bill they got it wrong but I spoke to them and they are all local Sheffield people and so easy to talk to and they corrected it immediately, I dread to think what I would have gone through at BT's Indian call centre0 -
Been with Plusnet for years, after they took over Metronet. I have phone and broadband accounts at 2 properties and have had zero problems.
If you set up an online account on the Plusnet portal then you can make changes to your packages easily and get details on your phone and broadband use.
You can get a monthly discount if you get others to sign up. Its not a big incentive, but if like myself you have 2 accounts, then you may as well have the discount.
The online help system is pretty good and once you raise a ticket, you will get frequent updates and notifications to your mobile if requested.0 -
Been with Plusnet a few years. Good call centre and very helpful users forum.0

Been with Plusnet for about 2 years now. Best thing I ever did. Until Ballyblack told me a few months ago I wasn't aware they were owned by BT and it doesn't show because they are so easy to interface with, especially on technical issues. I've had to phone about 3 times about things I didn't understand. Got through almost immediately and one phone call on each occasions sorted me out.
The last time I phoned was about 2 months ago. I had a router issue which the tech guy identified very quickly. They set me up with a direct line to the modem and sent me out a new router at no cost to me, except £5 p&p.
I'm delighted with my Plusnet service. It's as good as Virgin Cable, which I had for many years. It's cheaper to install than BT Infinity and I don't know if they still do it but my install costs were waived if I agreed to a 12 month contract.0 -
