Problems with experian!!!!

I am so disgusted. I was discharged from bankruptcy on 11/10/2013 and waited this long to clean up my credit file. Call credit and equifax where all clear so I decided to apply for a Vanquis card to build my credit history but unfortunately I was declined. I thought this was strange so I paid £15 today to see what information was on Experian. I was very shocked to see that they had not got my current address, or details of me being on electoral role since 07-2013 even though the other credit files had. I think now I no why I was turned down. Cant believe that the information wasnt updated.

If Vanquis don't use Experian as their primary CRA then it makes no difference what information is held.
Your application could have failed for any number of reasons. If you weren't registered on the electoral roll prior to July 2013. Then this could well be an issue.0 -
I am on the electoral role continuously from when I can remember so it wouldnt be that, Ive always updated. I just couldnt believe the much information was wrong on Experian. My bank isn't even on there cause of them not updating my address.Live Life to the Full and Enjoy!

You need to raise a query with experian to update your info:beer:0

If experian have never been given any information either from you or from a creditor of yours that links your credit file to your new address then it won't automatically update. They can only enter information that they have been told and the 3 credit reference agencies do not share information between each other.
If you provide them with your new address and existing address then that should rectify that part of your file.
You may then find the electoral roll information will also update, but if it doesn't then raise a query with experian with regards to this.
You say you were discharged in October 13. Assuming you were bankrupt for the usual year then presumably you were declared bankrupt in October 12. If that is the case then even after your experian file is corrected you may still struggle to get a vanquis card so soon after bankruptcy.
Have you been through all 3 of your credit files in detail to check all the default dates/current status of each account to see if you need to do a post bankruptcy clean up? - Credit Reference File Clean Up Post BankruptcyA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Have you money to burn? Apparently so, as Experian charge £2 for your file, not £15. You have no need of their premium services, and I doubt any individual actually does.
As others note, A CRA is only as good as the information or receives. If you are indeed on the Electoral Roll, then their omission should be chased up, but you may find you have two listings and you need to have term linked.0 -
What I believe has happened is you've reactivated your previous CreditExpert membership (hence the £15 monthly charge) but because you have moved since you registered with CreditExpert last time your membership profile has yet to be updated with your new address. Only you can do this I'm afraid and once you do (add your new address) the next sweep of your data will pull in information recorded at your new address, including the electoral roll. Let me stress that lenders do not use your CreditExpert profile to access your credit report so they will already be seeing information registered at your current address and any other addresses you supply to them. I hope that's clear.

If you register on the Electoral roll at an address is this information automatically passed onto the CRA's?0

The CRAs certainly do receive electoral roll updates from local councils. These are usually monthly, except during annual canvasses, which are actually taking place in most areas at the moment, when updates are delayed until the new registers are published. You'll find more details in this Q&A.

Thanks for that James, is that still the case if you opt out of the edited register?...I have always opted out as don't want to receive marketing information but am planning a mortgage application next year and am suddenly concerned I will not show as being registered as I have no credit with anyone.0 -
CRAs like Experian can use the full registers to help lenders assess credit applications, so this is not at all affected by edited register opt outs.
