Broken toilet chain!!!

Our downstairs toilet is the old fashioned kind with the high cistern on the wall and a long chain. The chain has always been awkward to pull and would need about 2 or 3 pulls before it would flush, but tonight it came off in my son's hand when he tried to flush the toilet. Is it easy/possible to replace a toilet chain?

Yes they usually have a ring or hook that you attach to the cistern lever. You should be able to get a replacement chain from any local hardware/diy store, one of the big boys such as B&Q or from somewhere like Wilkinson's.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Your local Bnq/Focus etc will have a fairly good range of chains and fitting.
Probably just need a repair link.0 -
Thanks for your replies, it's actually not just the chain that is broken, it's the actual lever that the chain is attached to, that has snapped in half. It's must just be old (as old as the house around 35years) but my son is very heavy handed too. I'm assuming I can still get replacements.0
